In 1984, Dr. Rusty Tracy graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A & M. A year later, he established Tracy Animal Hospital and set out to provide dedicated and quality care holding fast to the idea that veterinary care should be accessible and affordable in order to help as many patients as possible. Over the next 36 years, Dr. Tracy stayed true to these values and as the veterinary field grew, he developed a loyal and trusted following of clients who knew he would only recommend what their pet needed. His commitment, dedication, drive, and work ethic were passed on and nurtured in his children. His son, Dr. Tanner Tracy, chose to follow in his father’s footsteps and has worked alongside him at the practice for the last several years. The number of lives Dr. Rusty Tracy has touched and the patient’s he’s saved since he began practicing cannot be quantified. After years of devotion, Dr. Tracy will be stepping down from practicing on a day-to-day basis. We don’t call this retirement as Dr. Tracy will still be a big part of the practice and will continue to help with surgeries and surgical consultations. He will now have the opportunity to spend more time with his lovely wife, Karen, his children, grandchildren, friends, and fur-babies. He’ll also be spending more time on his ranch tending to cattle! Please help us thank Dr. Tracy for the countless moments that have made up the last 36 years. From sharing the joy in a client’s life when a new puppy or kitten would join the family, to solemnly sitting and mourning alongside you all as a beloved pet crossed the rainbow bridge, Dr. Tracy expresses his privilege and honor to have been able to be a part of each and every one of your lives and for trusting him with your fur-babies.
Please help us in also wishing Dr. Tanner Tracy well as he takes the reigns in his father’s stead and continues to provide the care that you all have come to know and expect of Tracy Animal Hospital.

Knew this was coming as we all get older; however, glad he will still consult. I couldn't have asked for a more awesome vet! Tanner has been so incredible. I came in thinking I would have to put a dog down, he said "let's try this"...and it worked! He grew leaps and bounds in my mind that day! I love this practice and wouldn't dream of trusting my animals to anyone else.

I left a comment on FB but also wanted to post here. I also have known this was coming but I still cried to read it. I have to say I absolutely love this man! He has been my vet for so many years and through all my fur babies! I totally trust him and I love how he really cares about his patients! He has always made me feel like family and puts up with my crazy phone calls both to his office and his cell! He has never made me feel like I was bothering him and always reassured me and calmed me down when I was anxious. He never did unnecessary tests/procedures even if I thought we should just to run up your bill like so many other vets! He would tell me - let’s try this first - and he was always right! And if he told me we did need a surgery or something- I knew it was the right thing to do and their costs for that were always a fair price compared to other clinics. He is an honest and trustworthy vet! I will miss his sense of humor - his genuine love and care of his patients- both the 4 legged and 2 legged! Tanner is just as awesome as his dad - just as caring and I feel totally confident trusting my fur babies to him now. He certainly had a great mentor and the perfect person to take over! All of the staff at Tracy Animal Hospital is the same - they are all the best! Dr Tracy truly built a family business to be proud of and I have recommended them so many times to anyone needing a great vet. I would never dream of taking my babies anywhere but here! Dr. Tracy - I love you and will miss you more than you will ever know! I hope you enjoy your well earned retirement and your farm! I will consider it a treat to come in and get to see you at the office and give you a big hug! From the crazy Nutley family - we love you and will miss you!! ENJOY!

Dear Dr. Tracy, thank you for being the compassionate man you were when we had to put Rusty and Scout down. It meant a lot to us. We have been patients for years and wouldn't trust any other vet. Best wishes in your "non-retirement". You have a beautiful family. 4/29/2021 11:08:47 pm

Rusty has been my vet for more years than I can count. I even drove from Blanco to have him care for my Wheatens. He cried along with me when one of our dogs had to go to Rainbow Bridge. I don’t know of any other vet that would share their cell number, but Rusty gave me his knowing that I would not take advantage. I did awake him once from a sound sleep and one other time I got him off the golf course. When possible he would allow me to observe during surgeries with my promise that if problems occurred, I would remained in my corner quite as a mouse. He cared for many rescue wheatens and once saved a litter of distemper puppies that we got from a mill bust. I recently heard from one of the people who adopted one of the puppies and it is now 15 years old. Rusty never charged for an office visit for a rescue, only for the procedures. Rusty was a vet because he loved the animals and it showed. I will miss his bear hugs and wish him luck, good health, and fun at the ranch. Love you big guy, Gwen Comments are closed.
